About this role
What you’ll be doing
You’ll be working on a variety of digital projects for our growing, socially-responsible client base, as well as on internal projects.
- Building and maintaining websites and web applications with Vue.js
- Making sure we stick to our high standards for performance, code quality and UX
- Keeping your eyes and ears open for ways we can refine those same standards and processes
- Mentoring other team members and leading regular code reviews
- Participating in daily stand-ups and monthly company strategic reviews

Our front-end stack
Right now most of our projects are built using some combination of:
- ES6/7 / Next + Babel + Webpack
On the back end we primarily use Craft CMS, plus a mixture of GraphQL and REST APIs
We’re always open to trying new and interesting technologies.
What we’re looking for
More than a portfolio or a checklist of skills, we’re looking for someone intelligent who takes pride in their work and is always keen to improve it.
- Be inquisitive, resourceful and motivated
- Likely have around five or more years in an agency or similar environment, or other equivalent industry experience.
- Be knowledgeable in performance, debugging, and refactoring
- Enjoy mentoring other team members
- Be comfortable with working across the full stack to deliver features from idea to production
- Enjoy working with clients rather than just for them
- Like experimenting & trying things out
- Be happy iterating quickly in small, multidisciplinary teams. No silos here.
Experience with Vue is a plus but definitely not a requirement. If you're not familiar with Vue, you’ll likely have a high level of familiarity with one or more modern front-end frameworks (e.g. React, Angular etc).
You’ll also be highly proficient with skills and tools that make up modern web development: git; command line build tools; CI; unit testing; etc. We’re user-centred in our approach, so it’s important that you care and understand enough about UX to help us deliver experiences to the standard our clients have come to expect.
We’re a small team, so we’re also looking for someone who is willing and able to muck in with stuff like QA and UI dev when required.
This position might not be for you if you:
- Are not comfortable with showing unfinished work to clients and users.
- Want to plan every aspect of an app before starting to code.
- Would rather be an expert in a single stack or language rather than learn multiple stacks.
- Don’t really want to do front-end development from time to time.
- Prefer owning a project or area of code individually rather working collaboratively.

If we think you might be a good candidate to join us we’ll arrange an informal interview so that we can find out more about each other. This can be either face-to-face (if you’re near by) or by phone / Skype.
Depending on the outcome of the first interview, we may invite you to do a technical test. This can be completed off-site. Candidates who advance past this stage will then be invited to meet us at out offices for an in-person interview and to meet the full Kind team.
While this is a full-time, permanent role, based in our central Nottingham office, we are open to remote or part-remote working for the right candidate.
You'll still need to be able to travel occasionally to our Nottingham office and to our UK-based clients.
